What is EMDR?

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing is a psychotherapy treatment originally designed to alleviate the distress associated with traumatic memories (Shapiro, 1989a, 1989b).

Shapiro’s (2001) Adaptive Information Processing model posits that EMDR therapy facilitates the accessing and processing of traumatic memories and other adverse life experiences to bring these to an adaptive resolution.

After successful treatment with EMDR therapy, affective distress is relieved, negative beliefs are reformulated, and physiological arousal is reduced.

What is the EMDR Approach?

Therapist-directed lateral eye movements are the most commonly used external stimulus; however, various other stimuli, including hand-tapping and audio stimulation, are also often employed (Shapiro, 1991).

Shapiro (1995, 2001) hypothesizes that EMDR therapy facilitates access to the traumatic memory network, thereby enhancing information processing by forming new associations between the traumatic memory and more adaptive memories or information.

7 Phases of EMDR therapy.

EMDR Phase 1: The Therapist prepares the patient/client before initiating directed lateral eye movements. The therapist takes a thorough history of the client and develops a treatment plan.

EMDR Phase 2 – This is the phase of treatment where the therapist ensures that the client has several different ways of handling emotional distress during the therapy session. The therapist may teach the client various imagery and stress reduction techniques that the client can use during and between sessions. A goal of EMDR therapy is to produce rapid and effective change while the client maintains equilibrium during and between sessions.

EMDR Phase 3 – This is the Assessment and Reprocessing phase. A negative experience is isolated and targeted. This target is then properly identified and processed using EMDR therapy procedures. The client will identify a clear visual image related to the memory, a particular negative belief about themselves, and the related emotions.

EMDR Phase 4 – This is the Desensitization phase. It allows identifying and resolving similar events that may have occurred and are associated with the target.

EMDR Phase 5 – 6 – This phase focuses on strengthening and reinforcing the positive belief that the person has identified to replace their original negative belief.
Evaluations of thousands of EMDR sessions suggest that a physical response occurs in relation to unresolved thoughts.

Independent studies of memory have supported this finding, indicating that when a person is negatively affected by trauma, information about the traumatic event is stored in motoric (or body-based) memory rather than narrative memory and retains the negative emotions and physical sensations associated with the original event.

However, when that information is processed, it can then be transferred to narrative (or verbalizable) memory, and the associated body sensations and negative feelings disappear.

EMDR Phase 7 – In Phase 7, Closure, the therapist asks the client to keep a log for the week. The log should document any related material that may arise. It serves as a reminder to the client of the self-calming activities they mastered in Phase Two.

Conclusion

EMDR is probably your next option if you suffer from everyday memories that create low self-esteem, feelings of powerlessness, and all the myriad problems that go with most mood swings.

According to the EMDR Official Website, millions of people have been treated successfully over the past 25 years. After successful treatment with EMDR therapy, affective distress is relieved, negative beliefs are reformulated, and physiological arousal is reduced.

The Transformative Power of EMDR Therapy: Healing Trauma, One Session at a Time

Trauma has a way of embedding itself into our minds and bodies, often leaving us feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or disconnected. For many, traditional talk therapy can be helpful, but what happens when words aren’t enough? This is where EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) therapy comes in—a groundbreaking approach that has transformed the lives of countless individuals struggling with trauma, anxiety, and other mental health challenges.

What is EMDR Therapy?

EMDR therapy was developed by Dr. Francine Shapiro in the late 1980s. It’s a structured, evidence-based therapy that helps individuals process and heal from traumatic memories and distressing life experiences. Unlike traditional therapies that rely heavily on verbal communication, EMDR uses bilateral stimulation—such as eye movements, taps, or sounds—to activate the brain’s natural healing processes.

The idea behind EMDR is that trauma disrupts the brain’s ability to process information effectively. When a traumatic event occurs, the memory can become “stuck,” along with the emotions, sensations, and beliefs associated with it. EMDR helps to “unstick” these memories, allowing the brain to reprocess them in a healthier way.

How Does EMDR Work?

EMDR therapy is typically conducted in eight phases, each designed to address different aspects of healing:
  • History-Taking: The therapist gathers information about the client’s history and identifies target memories for processing.

  • Preparation: The therapist explains the EMDR process and teaches coping skills to ensure the client feels safe and prepared.

  • Assessment: The client identifies the specific memory, the negative belief associated with it, and the desired positive belief.

  • Desensitization: Using bilateral stimulation, the therapist guides the client through processing the memory until it no longer causes distress.

  • Installation: The desired positive belief is reinforced.

  • Body Scan: The client checks for any residual physical tension related to the memory.

  • Closure: The session is wrapped up, ensuring the client feels stable and grounded.

  • Reevaluation: In subsequent sessions, the therapist and client review progress and address any remaining targets.

Who Can Benefit from EMDR?

EMDR therapy is most commonly associated with trauma recovery, but its applications extend far beyond that. It has been shown to be effective for:

  • Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)
  • Anxiety and panic disorders
  • Depression
  • Phobias
  • Grief and loss
  • Chronic pain
  • Performance anxiety
  • Low self-esteem

Whether you’ve experienced a single traumatic event or have been carrying the weight of complex trauma for years, EMDR can help you find relief and reclaim your life.

Why EMDR Training Matters

As the demand for EMDR therapy grows, so does the need for skilled and compassionate therapists. EMDR training equips mental health professionals with the tools and knowledge to deliver this life-changing therapy effectively. For therapists, learning EMDR is not just about adding a new technique to their toolkit—it’s about becoming a catalyst for profound healing.

If you’re a therapist considering EMDR training, know that you’re stepping into a role that has the potential to transform lives. And if you’re someone seeking therapy, don’t hesitate to explore EMDR as an option. Healing is possible, and you don’t have to do it alone.

Final Thoughts

Trauma may leave scars, but it doesn’t have to define your story. EMDR therapy offers a path to healing that is both innovative and deeply rooted in the brain’s natural ability to recover. Whether you’re a therapist looking to expand your skills or someone seeking relief from the weight of trauma, EMDR can be a beacon of hope.

At EMDR Training, we’re committed to supporting both therapists and clients on this journey. Together, we can create a world where healing is within reach for everyone.

Thyroid Function and Thyromine Treatment

Increase Your Thyroid Performance!

Problems of Thyroid:
Millions wrestle with sluggish Thyroid function. Thyroid functionality is diminished by stress, pollution, poor life-style, bad dietary habits, and a host of activities. It is now proven that various nutrients directly support the healthy structure of the thyroid gland, the creation of thyroid hormone, and also the activation of thyroid hormone throughout the body. These are all normal and natural functions which need to be properly managed to help support health and fitness.

The latest research is proving that free radical problems, especially when there are actually insufficiencies of selenium and manganese comprising antioxidant enzymes, stress thyroid hormone functionality. If these types of problems of thyroid and nutritional deficiencies aren't corrected a man or woman is more prone to struggle with excess weight, insulin functionality, and poor metabolism.

Many individuals have signs and symptoms of sluggish metabolic process, which include reduced body temperature, exhaustion, an increase in weight, difficulty slimming down as well as keeping it off, bowel irregularity, poor disposition, heavy head, dried-out skin, and energy problems in the afternoon. Thyromine offers significant nutritional support to help maintain the normal functionality of thyroid hormone.

Basic thyroid hormone, thyroxine, provides the amino acid tyrosine in the center, surrounded by 4 iodine molecules. This is whats called T4. It's the hormone produced in the thyroid gland, but it is not biologically active. Selenoproteins behave in several ways to alter T4 into T3 (active thyroid hormone). A lack of selenium substantially affects the formation of thyroid hormone (T4) in the thyroid gland and activation of it to T3 throughout the body.

Thyromine thyroid supplement has a top-notch formula for improving upon energy, motivation, metabolism, and helping weight reduction. 1000's of individuals have taken advantage of the powerful nutrient formula in Thyromine. It was created to support the natural functionality of thyroid hormone at the cellular level and helps convert the less active form of thyroid hormone (T4) into the active form (T3). Problems of thyroid may frequently be aided or even vastly improved upon with this particular treatment.

Stress Symptoms

The effects of stress differ from one individual to the next but the symptoms are relatively common in all cases. Stress affects virtually areas of our lives from our physical health to the emotional well-being.

Yes, it is part of life to experience certain levels of stress on a daily basis but the most important thing is that we are able to control stress instead of stress controlling us.

If you find that you often experience symptoms of stress, such as the ones we'll be discussing below, you should seek a way to deal with it, even if it means getting outside help.

Unchecked stress compromises your immune system. People who are experiencing a lot of stress often seem to come down with every random illness that goes around. The truth of the matter is that the symptoms may be the symptoms of the actual illnesses but you wouldn't experience them if stress hadn't lowered your immunity to them. Your body just isn't able to keep up when you're stressed out so you catch everything. Allergies may not be caused by stress but they can certainly be exacerbated by it. If you're really interested in being healthier, it's time to consider reducing stress.

Another way that stress hurts is by making it more difficult for you to think clearly. When people are frequently under pressure, their minds tend to race and they aren't able to think about things in a calm and collected manner. Your mind is moving fast, it's true, the problem is that your mind is unable to focus and this leaves you making decisions that are made on emotional impulses and not with logic, reason, and all the facts in mind. That's why it's a good idea to put yourself in a more relaxed state when you have something to focus on that demands your full concentration. The one thing you don't want to do is let stress force you to make bad choices that will only lead to more stress.

One of the most serious symptoms of stress is substance abuse that we all know has serious consequences. If you drink alcohol and/or take illegal substances and prescription medications in excessive quantities with the hope of lessening your stress, be warned that addiction lies on the horizon. Many will drink alcohol and/or take drugs to escape the reality of their problems but these are temporary solutions and not the best ones, at that. If you have been engaging in this potentially fatal behavior, you should immediately seek personal and professional help so that you can take control of your life once again.

It must be emphasized that the symptoms discussed here are not all-inclusive since the reactions to stress are as many as there are individuals who suffer from it. Modern life is fast-paced and we are subjected to a number of stressful situations. While we can't always control what goes on around us, we can, with practice, learn to respond to things in more relaxed and resourceful ways.

Meditation is a very good way to eliminate stress. If you happen to learn more concerning the benefits of meditation, you will find that meditation offers you more benefits than just stress alleviation. Unless you fully understand how to meditate, then you have to perform some research first to ensure you acquire all the benefits meditating has to offer. I suggest you read more information about meditation techniques to select one that really works.

Of all the meditation practices in existence, mindfulness meditation offers the greatest benefits for decreasing emotional stress.

You Have Options And The Key To Reverse Low Self Esteem

Most people can ascertain for themselves whether or not they suffer from low self-esteem, which in fact is part of depression. Poor self-esteem can affect your outlook, your way of thinking, your sex life, and many more things that really matter in life. Low self-esteem may cause you to doubt your choices, options, and decision-making; and even look for what is not going good. The problem with low or non-self-worth is that it always results in extremely sad and zero performance.

In this article and many more articles to come, you'll find things you can do that will help you boost your self-confidence and self-morale.  You need the help and support of people close to you, no matter the situation, you always need their support.  It is only wise to choose your support chain wisely, particularly with enough support. When people suffer from depression, and low self-esteem, they suffer from several things; including but not limited to eating problems, or eating disorders, and to defeat this problem you need to put in place an eating plan with the help of a good amount of tasty fat-burning foods.

To help yourself, you need to follow my checklist below.  Basically, there are several options available to you online to get this kind of checklist or information, but I have my own plan to cut across the problem.

1.  Make sure you hang out with people of high esteem all the time.
2.  Find a psychiatrist or a psychologist to talk to.
3.  Change the way you reason all the time.  Reason with your mind at the highest level of achievement.

We as humans believe that we need to be praised for anything and everything that we do because that is the only way we feel we are important.  When people praise us.  If we did not receive praise, we believe we have failed and that could really adversely affect anybody.  When we were little, our parents and teachers have a great effect on us when we are young. One other influence is our peers.  Our peers tend to destroy part of our self-esteem during school days because they constantly pick on some kids.

Your first step to changing how you feel about yourself is to resolve to do something about it. Being educated on self-assurance will help you feel more sure of yourself. Changes like this come about gradually and call for perseverance. Thus you should be diligent and work on it one step at a time. Next, you just begin by raising your awareness about your thoughts. Look at the immediate thoughts and feelings that rise up in any situation. You'll begin to be cognizant of habitual patterns of thinking. You should realize what you are working with so you will know what you need to do.

There are a lot of ways you can set about it, and each has its rewards. A superb place to start is with your general outlook. Set out to observe what is going well in your day. Replacing the opposite of a bad thought, when you observe one, is a good thing to do. Likewise, it is extremely helpful to take some time and do the following mental workout. Ask yourself what is good about what happened. When we look for good things, we discover them. How essential it isn't important. One optimistic thought can lead to another.

Seeing what's great will before long come easy for you. You can begin to create an entirely new attitude. With practice, you could learn new ways of thinking. A positive result is guaranteed if you persevere. With consistent practice, you will acquire a much better outlook.

Till I hear from you guys, it's bye for now.

EMDR Training - Before we discuss about the training, what is emdr? The Global definition according to the eye movement desensitization and reprocessing international association; is a phased, scientifically validated, and integrative psychotherapy approach based on the theory that much of psychopathology is due to traumatic experience or disturbing life events. These result in the impairment of the client’s innate ability to process and to integrate the experience or experiences within the central nervous system. The core of EMDR treatment involves activating components of the traumatic memory or disturbing life event and pairing those components with alternating bilateral or dual attention stimulation. This process appears to facilitate the resumption of normal information processing and integration. This treatment approach can result in the alleviation of presenting symptoms, diminution of distress from the memory, improved view of the self, relief from bodily disturbance, and resolution of present and future anticipated triggers.  Use the link the article to get more information on the process.

EMDR

What is EMDR? Many people have come up with different definitions to EMDR in the past and present, but the main definition of emdr still remains the reason why it was invented in the first place by Francine Shapiro, originator and developer of the Adaptive Information Processing Model (AIP) and Eye Movement Desensitization and Processing (EMDR).

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is an integrative psychotherapy approach that has been extensively researched and proven effective for the treatment of trauma.  EMDR is a set of standardized protocols that incorporates elements from many different treatment approaches. To date,  EMDR has helped an estimated two million people of all ages relieve many types of psychological stress.
